Music to remember the battle of the Somme

Today is exactly 100 years since the start of the battle of the Somme. A few years ago after reading the stunning first person account of life on the front line “Somme Mud” by EPF Lynch (which is highly recommended) I was inspired to compose a suite of music in a pretentious attempt to communicate the horror and the importance of this horrific moment in our history.
I of course didn’t succeed in my aim (managing instead to create a 6 track post-rock instrumental album with no explicit link to the Somme aside from their titles!) but I thought it might be appropriate to share it today anyway, just in case anyone is looking for something reflexive to listen to.

Here is the sound cloud page

Happy to share MP3s if anyone wants them – get in touch via comments/email/twitter.

 Thanks…
